Resetting My Energy for the New Year

The start of a new year often invites reflection, but this year has felt especially meaningful for me. Recently, I made the move from Ontario to Nova Scotia, leaving behind the constant pace of the rat race and stepping into a much quieter, slower rhythm of life.
Now, my days begin and end with sunrises and sunsets stretching across the Bay of Fundy which is my daily reminder of how grounding nature can be when we allow ourselves to truly witness it. There is a deep calm here that feels both unfamiliar and incredibly nourishing.
This transition hasn’t been without its challenges. I have been and will be spending my winter living in an RV while renovating an old farmhouse for the next couple of months. The house has sat vacant for decades and is currently down to the studs. The outbuildings are in dire need of some TLC but are able to currently house all the animals we brought with us. Bringing life back to this land has been both exhausting and deeply rewarding so far and we are excited to see what the future holds here. Between the cold, the work, and the endless to-do lists, it’s been a busy month in every sense of the word.
And yet, in the midst of it all, I’ve made a conscious effort to pause.
I’ve learned that resetting your energy doesn’t require everything to be still, but it does require you to be still within it. I’ve been grounding myself whenever possible: spending quiet moments with the animals, noticing the small pleasures of daily life, listening closely to what my body is asking for, and honouring rest when I need it.
Reiki has been an important part of this process for me. It has helped me stay balanced, centred, and supported during a time of immense change. Reiki works gently, supporting the body’s natural ability to regulate, restore, and find harmony physically, emotionally, and energetically. It’s a simple yet powerful way to reconnect with yourself when life feels full or overwhelming.
As we move into the new year, I’m reminded that “resetting” doesn’t mean doing more, it often means doing less, more intentionally.
If you’re feeling called to bring more balance into your own life, know that support is available. Maddy and Jodi are offering Reiki sessions for both people and animals, creating a calm and supportive space to help restore balance and ease. Whether you’re navigating change, stress, or simply seeking a deeper sense of grounding, Reiki can be a beautiful addition to your wellness journey.
